The course starts with theoretical training comprising 100 hours of lectures in intramural sessions or 35 hours of lectures and 65 hours of self-study in distance-learning sessions.

After the theoretical training and having passed the final exams at the ATO Exin Aviation School, the trainee obtains a certificate recognising the completion of the theoretical training required for the PPL(A) [private pilot] licence and he or she may proceed to practical training.

At the same time the trainee is required to undergo medical tests for pilots at centres authorised for this to receive the flight aptitude certificate.

At this stage the trainee may sit for the theoretical state exam at the Civil Aviation Authority in Warsaw. The exam may also be taken at a later stage during the practical training. It needs to be passed before the completion of the practical training and before sitting for the LKE (Aviation Examination Board) practical state exam.

To begin the practical training you need to be at least 15 years old and have the written consent of your legal guardians. For an individual flight you have to be over 16.

The practical training is held with the use of Cessna 150 and Cessna 152 planes, and in the flight simulator. During the training it is required to spend a minimum of 45 hours of flying with a trainer, including three hours in the flight simulator, learning how to pilot planes for instrument-guided flights.

The training course ends with the certificate of completed practical training required for the PPL(A) licence and the trainee may proceed to the practical exam with the LKE (Aviation, Examination Board).
